Saint Athanasios the Athonite is one of the great monastic saints of the Greek Orthodox Church and is known as the founder of organised monastic life on Mount Athos. With deep humility, prayer and devotion to Christ, he founded the Great Lavra and dedicated his life to spiritual discipline and the service of God.
His life continues to inspire the faithful as a beautiful example of humility, perseverance and complete trust in God.
